I started my diving career in 1976, I didn't know at the time I would make a living out of it but I knew I loved being underwater. Living in land locked Kansas didn't do much for my diving for the next few years however after a move to San Diego in the early 80's everything changed. I was certified as a BSAC Club Instructor in 1989 followed by BSAC Advanced Instructor in 1991. Since then I have obtained certifications with NAUI, PADI, CMAS, and our current certifying agency SDI/ TDI whom I believe in completely.
I have lost track of the amount of dives since I have been doing this for around 10 years but its in excess of 5000 dives... I still learn from each dive and still see wonder in the underwater environment. I truly love what I do.
Some of my favorite diving is done on the East end of Cayman Brac. I love diving the base of the 140' bluff that plunges into the water at a depth of about 30 feet at its base. The South walls have always called to me like gold to a pirate, Even though I find the North/West Walls in Cayman Brac to be a bit more fishy, I love the depth and grandeur of the South Walls... Just knowing we are diving on the edge of the Cayman Trench 25,216 feet deep somehow excites me. Knowing anything that swims anywhere in any ocean could pass by keeps me interested.
