Turtle Reef is the shore dive and snorkel site located right outside our dive shop, at the Macabuca/Cracked Conch bar and restaurant. The address is 857 NW Point Road in West Bay.

Open daily 8am to 5pm, and open late Mondays until 8:30pm - Monday is the famous Macabuca BBQ night. We are open 364 days a year: closed on Christmas Day, but we will leave some tanks and weights out for you if you ask.

We share a parking lot with Macabuca/Cracked Conch with plenty of space. During busy times, you can park in the spillover lot next door or along the street.

If taking a taxi, just tell them "Macabuca in West Bay". For those taking the public bus, the bus costs KYD$2 / US$2.50 per person. It doesn't always come down the road to us - we recommend getting on and off at the intersection of Watercourse Road and Boatswain Bay Road, just a 5-minute walk away.

For divers looking for a pickup service, we do not offer transportation, but are more than happy to help you call a taxi.

Grand Cayman is famous for amazing conditions year round - calm, clear, warm waters! However, it is the ocean and conditions do change - sometimes the visibility drops or the current picks up. Luckily, if it's rough on one side of the island we can dive the other. We prioritize safety and will only cancel diving if the conditions are unsafe, at no charge. Year-round warm waters here in the Cayman Islands! Summer water temperatures run about 86°F from July to October, and winter temperatures from January to April are about 80°F.

Most divers in summer are happy in a swimsuit and rashguard, and a 1mm to 3mm wetsuit in winter. We have 2.5mm shorty wetsuits available for rent at the shop.

We are a fully operational dive shop with on-site air and Nitrox compressors, and a 5000psi electric booster for tech gas. We have a gear setup area with lots of benches, a fresh-water shower, rinse tank, camera rinse tank, and a rail to hang dive gear to dry.

There are air-conditioned restrooms on-site you can also use as changing rooms - we share them with the incredible on-site bar and restaurant Macabuca/Cracked Conch.

The dive shop does not have lockers, but we can hold car keys on our key rack and small personal items on the counter in the office. Staff are nearby and there are cameras in the shop and gear area just in case.

There is a wheelchair ramp between the parking lot and Macabuca, with a few small steps up to our dive shop and a sloped ladder entry in and out of the water. We are happy to assist with dive gear for those with limited mobility, and can offer dive guides or one-on-one service as needed. Please contact us for more details.

All our prices are in US dollars (USD). We accept KYD at an exchange rate of 0.8 KYD = 1 USD. For those paying in cash, change is given in KYD.

With the exception of technical dive courses and gasses, we do not take any deposits or payments in advance. Once you arrive you can pay as you go, or we can set up a tab for you to pay at the end of your trip.

Tips are not expected, but are very much appreciated - our crew works hard to make your dive experience great, and guests often ask. All activities are weather permitting. There are no refunds on trips cancelled by the diver or missed trips; dive vouchers may be offered in certain circumstances. We strongly recommend travel insurance and DAN dive accident insurance.

Every diver signs our liability release - sign it online now and make sure to add your dive certification details.

We specialize in all things scuba! For certified divers looking for fun dives, we offer excellent shore diving and boat diving options.

Not certified? We can still take you out for an introductory dive! We call this program the Scuba Discovery Dive. As long as you can pass the medical waiver, you can spend a 2-3 hour session with us underwater. Visit our Courses page for more information.

Bring your own or rent from us! We are fully stocked with high-quality ScubaPro weight-integrated BCDs and regulators, and Shearwater rental computers. Rental gear is included in Scuba Discovery and Open Water courses. Otherwise it's US$30 per person per day for as much as you need.

Solo diving is not permitted in the Cayman Islands, even for those with Solo and Self-Reliant dive certifications - dive buddies are mandatory. For those traveling alone, you can book a Guided Shore Dive or a boat trip and buddy up with the guide or another guest. Another option is to join another group of shore divers heading out from the shore dive site.

Most dive agencies recommend taking a refresher if it's been longer than 6 months between dives. We're a bit more flexible, but refreshers are strongly recommended - and sometimes required - if it's been longer than a few years. Contact us and we'll customize a program for you based on your experience and number of years out of the water.

Refreshers are a great option to ease back in - not just for your safety, but also for the reef and other divers in the water with you. You can expect to cover basic dive theory, equipment setup, dive computer use and No Decompression Limits, dive safety skills, and more. All refreshers include a dive on our house reef at Turtle Reef, so you won't be missing out on anything.

We LOVE taking kids diving! We offer a 2-hour kids dive program for little ones ages 8-9, and Scuba Discovery and Junior Open Water courses for kids ages 10-14.

Arriving with a family or group of multiple ages and dive levels? Let us know how many people are in your group and their ages, and we can customize a family fun dive program for you all. You can even charter one of our boats for a day of fun out on the water - and we can run kids programs while we're out.

We dive, rain or shine! We're getting wet anyway, and we'd rather spend a rainy day diving underwater. We only cancel diving when conditions are too rough or dangerous - a rare event, and not directly affected by rain.

Follow your training agency's guidance: at least 18 hours between diving and flying. We'll help you plan your week so your last dive day works with your flight.

Right at our shop - 857 NW Point Road in West Bay. Gear up at the dive shop, walk past the bar to the ironshore, and take the ladder straight down onto the reef.

The hard pan runs from standing room at the ladders down to 30 feet - easy, relaxed depths for new divers and long bottom times. From there the mini-wall and coral reef tops out at around 30-40 feet and drops to a bottom at about 60 feet, perfect depths for a range of levels. Check in at the dive shop for a full dive briefing and update on conditions - plus we'll let you know if we've spotted any octopus or seahorses lately.

For Guided Shore Dives and Scuba Discovery Dives - yes. While we can sometimes accommodate walk-ins, we're frequently fully booked and strongly recommend reserving your dives in advance to guarantee your spot.

If you are going out unguided with a buddy, no pre-booking is needed. Just stop by during opening hours to rent tanks and gear, or call ahead to book tanks and weights for a night dive.

We have air and Nitrox aluminum 80 cubic foot tanks available to rent - air is US$20 per tank and Nitrox US$25 per tank (Nitrox certification required). Weights are included in all tank rental prices.

We have a limited number of 63 cubic foot and 100 cubic foot air and Nitrox tanks also available - please contact us to reserve.

Yes and no... Most shore dive sites on Grand Cayman have their own dive shop on-site and do not allow outside tanks (same as us) - you can rent tanks directly from them.

If you have a private dive ladder at your condo, and convince us you understand how to dive there safely, we can arrange off-site tank rental. We recommend contacting us in advance for this option.

No outside tanks are permitted at Turtle Reef - but we have plenty of air and Nitrox tanks available. Just stop by during opening hours to rent tanks, or give us a call and pay over the phone if diving after-hours.

Yes, we can happily fill customer tanks. Please just note you must have signed our liability waiver, and the tanks must be within VIP and hydro dates. We can do visual inspections and hydrostatic inspections on site if you need them. Contact us if you have any questions.

We dive the North Wall whenever conditions allow - it has our favorite wall sites and the best chance to see sharks. We also have moorings near the docks on the West and South sides of the island.

We have 3 different docks located in West Bay - just a short drive away from the famous walls - that we use depending on where we are diving and the group. We also use the public dock in South Sound/Red Bay (with everyone else) on the rare occasion that we are pushed south by the weather. This gives us maximum flexibility to keep the boats running as conditions change around the island.

When you book, we'll coordinate with you on exactly where and when to meet. Please note our dive shop and shore dive facility does not have a dock attached - we'll let you know where to go!

Air tanks, weights, towels, snacks, cold drinking water in your own reusable take-home bottle, a dive computer if you need one, comfortable shaded seating, a fresh-water shower, and oxygen and first aid equipment on board. Every boat trip has a captain and crew on board, and a dive guide in the water with you on every dive.

There is a guide in the water on every dive, but you are more than welcome to do your own thing. You just have to stay with your dive buddy and let the guide know. We'll let you know what time to be back on the boat.

Yes, just let us know! Divers frequently bring along friends and family to join on boat trips. But please be aware our boats go out to the best dive sites, which aren't always the best snorkel spots. We recommend booking a Private Boat Charter if you are looking for a half or full day of snorkel fun.

Luckily for us, rain doesn't usually impact the conditions and we dive rain or shine. And when there is rough weather on one side of the island, it often means the opposite side is calm. We have docks around the island that allow for maximum flexibility so we can keep diving, and will only cancel dives when the conditions become unsafe.

Our boat El Puma is easy to board for those with limited mobility, and the crew are more than happy to assist with gear - just let us know in advance what you need.

For those looking for a Private Charter, we have dock options with wheelchair ramps, and the boat is easy to board with a marine head and shady areas, so everyone can join in for a fun day on the water.

SDI (Scuba Diving International) is an internationally recognized dive agency, at the same level as PADI and SSI. Certifications from SDI are universally accepted at the same level as PADI and SSI with no hassle. We are a 5 Star SDI Instructor Training Facility and all our instructors teach SDI courses - however, we also have SSI and PADI instructors on staff and are more than happy to teach SSI and PADI courses by request.

All our courses are taught as SDI, and elearning is included in the course cost - contact us to sign up and receive your elearning. We can also teach SSI and PADI courses; however, elearning is not included in the course cost and must be purchased separately by the student.

All our courses are run from our shore dive site, Turtle Reef. If you would like to upgrade to boat dives for your course, we can accommodate that for a fee - please just let us know.

Medical waivers are required for students by all accredited dive agencies, and also by our own insurance - no exceptions. Scuba diving is a wonderful sport, but there are inherent risks. Illness and injury can be caused by the increase of pressure underwater, the exertion of swimming, heat, the weight of carrying tanks, and more.

We want all our divers to have a safe and fun experience with us, and that means making sure all students are physically and mentally fit to dive. Absolutely! The site is free and open to the public for swimming and snorkeling, with easy ladder access in and out of the water. You can find us at 857 NW Point Road in West Bay, at Macabuca/Cracked Conch.

Turtle Reef is an excellent site for freediving. You'll just need to show your freediving certification at the dive shop, bring your own float, and freedive with a qualified buddy.

Turtle Reef is accessible to scuba divers as well as snorkelers. When the water is choppy, divers can go under the surface while snorkelers cannot. We recommend checking in with the dive shop for an update on conditions. There is no lifeguard on duty, so enter the water at your own risk. Everyone has a different level of water comfort, but a good general rule is: if it looks too rough for you, don't go in. Hang out at Macabuca and wait for a calmer day!

It's the foundation of everything we do. Every boat carries emergency oxygen and a full first-aid kit, there's a professional guide in the water on every boat dive, and we keep groups small (12 max on a boat that holds 18) so your guide is actually watching. The dive shop is also fully equipped with emergency oxygen and a first-aid kit, and the island has ambulances and hospitals a short distance away. Our owner Nat is so focused on safety that he also runs the hyperbaric chamber. We recommend all divers carry DAN dive accident insurance, and all our staff hold current emergency-care training.
